Arsenal urged to replace star who proved he’s ‘not good enough’ in FA Cup win vs Chelsea

“A good quality centre-half who is good in the air and can defend well, that’s got to be their priority.”

Holding, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi are all thought to be players who could be moved on this summer as Arteta freshens up his back-line.

Meanwhile speaking after the win over Chelsea, the Spanish coach insisted he was both delighted and proud with the performance of his team.

“We can always use those moments to make some corrections and give valuable information to the players to help them on the pitch,” he said of using the drinks break to make tactical changes.

“I think after we conceded the goal was probably the best 35 or 40 minutes since I arrived here against a team that’s in my opinion one of the best in Europe now.

“The way they’ve been performing, the result they had against any team in the last few weeks, big credit to our players.

However, the Slovenian could cost as much as £110m so Andre Onana, Nick Pope and Dean Henderson are all cheaper options.

Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell is a long-term target at left-back but his £80m price take could see Chelsea instead turn their attention to Nicolas Tagliafico, Sergio Reguilon or Alex Telles.

Elsewhere, Declan Rice is viewed as a solution to Chelsea’s centre-back problems with Lampard keen to convert the midfielder back to a permanent defender.

Emerson Palmieri, Marcos Alonso, Timeoue Bakayoko and Michy Batshuayi have all been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge while vice-captain Jorginho could also depart.

Manchester United have made Jadon Sancho their top summer transfer target but Dortmund wanted any deal for the England winger to be done by today. That hasn’t happened but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not given up in his pursuit of the 20-year-old.

Sancho was in sensational form last season, netting 20 goals and providing 20 assists for his team-mates.

But now Dortmund’s deadline has passed they are ready to offer their prized asset a mega new contract.

United will not be rushed into agreeing to the Bundesliga side’s terms and believe they can still sign Sancho before the transfer window closes in October.

For now, the winger has travelled with the rest of the Dortmund squad for their pre-season training camp.

“They have done great this season but there is no way they can start next season with the same players thinking they can do the same again.”

United are back in action tonight when they take on FC Copengahen in a Europa League quarter-final.
