Corey Taylor expresses concern, shows support for Kanye West in new interview

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has offered words of support and concern for Kanye West in a new interview.

In July, West announced he was running for US president. West’s subsequent behaviour sparked widespread commentary and in some places, criticism. Others have expressed concern for West’s wellbeing, with original supporter Elon Musk reconsidering his statement.

In an interview with Loudwire published today (August 2), Taylor said he had been following West’s recent activity “very closely” and that West’s behaviour worried him.

“That seems like someone who’s having a mental break, to be honest,” Taylor said, speculating on West. “When you exacerbate it with fame and money and all of these different things, people have a right to be concerned. He’s got a family; he’s got people who care about him and worry about him.

“It’s one thing to laugh about it from afar; it’s another thing to watch a breakdown happening in real-time, especially with someone who is loved by so many people, and a lot of his actions are taken very seriously,” Taylor said.

“I just hope that he gets the help that he needs.”

Other artists who have spoken publicly about West’s campaign and recent actions include Katy Perry, Chance The Rapper, KISS’ Paul Stanley and 50 Cent. West has drawn criticism from the likes of his former collaborator Jamie Foxx, Trey Songz, Will.i.am, and US organisation Planned Parenthood among others.

In an Instagram post last week, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, defended his actions, explaining his history with bipolar disorder and claiming she had attempted a medical intervention. “He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder,” she wrote.

West later issued a public apology to his wife after a series of now-deleted tweets regarding Kardashian West.

Foo Fighters cancel 25th anniversary Van Tour

Foo Fighters have cancelled their upcoming Van Tour that would have commemorated the band’s 25th anniversary.

The dates were originally scheduled to take place this spring but had to be rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After postponing the tour’s start until October, the Foos have now announced that the run of shows will no longer take place at all. “Foo Fighters have cancelled the Van Tour 2020,” a statement posted on their social media channels read.

“For further information, please visit your point of purchase. We look forward to seeing you all as soon as it is safe for everyone to do so.”

The shows would have seen the band revisit stops from their first US tour, which was held in 1995. The affected dates are as follows:

October 2020

1 – Hamilton, ON, FirstOntario Centre
3 – Cleveland, OH, Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse
5 – Detroit, MI, Little Caesars Arena
7 – Grand Rapids, MI, Van Andel Arena
9 – Knoxville, TN, Thompson-Boling Arena
13 – Cincinnati, OH, Heritage Bank Center
15 – Green Bay, WI, Resch Center
17 – Wichita, KS, INTRUST Bank Arena

December 2020

1 – Oklahoma City, OK, Chesapeake Energy Arena
3 – Albuquerque, NM, Santa Ana Center
5 – Phoenix, AZ, Talking Stick Resort Arena

Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl recently revealed he often found it “terrifying” to lead the band in their first decade together, after spending his time behind the drums with Nirvana.

“Coming out and standing [on stage]… I mean, fuck, I’d been sitting on a drum stool for so long that, oh my God, now I have to stand in front of people?” he said. “How does my body move? What do I say in-between songs?”

The band’s self-titled debut album celebrated its 25th anniversary last month (July 4) and Grohl reflected on the record in a new interview. “It was almost like a school project,” he explained. “I was preparing, I had charts.”

Turns out James Gandolfini was a huge fan of Green Day’s ‘Dookie’

It has been revealed that The Sopranos actor James Gandolfini was a huge fan of Green Day‘s third studio album, ‘Dookie’.

The late actor, who passed away in 2013 while on vacation in Rome, was a big fan of the pop-punk trio, according to former co-star Michael Imperioli.

Yesterday (August 6), Imperioli, who played Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos, posted a photograph of himself holding a guitar that Gandolfini is signing.

In the comments, Imperioli was asked about the kind of music Gandolfini liked. “Green Day,” he replied. “He would play the vinyl of dookie in his trailer at work. Totally serious,” he followed up, before adding: “No joke. He loved Green Day.”

Last week it was announced that the writers behind The Sopranos and Goodfellas are coming together to create a new mafia drama series.

The show, which will be produced by Showtime and Imagine Television Studios, will be created by The Sopranos producer Terence Winter, Goodfellas screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi and Empire‘s Brian Grazer, according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, David Chase, creator of The Sopranos, has seemingly accidentally revealed the fate of Tony Soprano in the show’s finale.

The end of the hit show, which was broadcast in 2007, left Tony with an ambiguous fate, with him sitting in a diner as a rival hitman approached.

The screen faded to black before Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin” played, leaving fans unsure as to whether Tony was killed or not.

Twin brothers listening to Phil Collins for the first time go viral after capturing brilliant reaction

Phil Collins

A pair of twin brothers have gone viral after capturing their brilliant reaction to the moment they listened to Phil Collins for the first time.

The latest video in the ‘First Time Hearing’ series from 21-year-old YouTube stars Tim and Fred Williams – known as “TwinsthenewTrend” – sees the pair listening to ‘In the Air Tonight’.

While the brothers have previously captured their reactions to tracks, including Dolly Parton‘s ‘Jolene’ and Bruce Springsteen‘s ‘Dancing in the Dark’, their reaction to Collins’ track has garnered their biggest audience to date.

The pair become increasingly animated in the video, but their greatest reaction comes when the famous drum solo arrives almost five minutes into the clip.

“That was cool how he did that,” Fred excitedly comments.

“I ain’t never seen somebody drum a beat three minutes [into] a song.”

Tim goes on to hail the song as “unique” and “a straight banger.”

One Twitter user responded: “Yooooo y’all been sleeping on Phil Collins while I’ve been a stan since I could stand! Watch these teens hear the power of the Phil fill for the first time.”

You can follow the pair, as TwinsthenewTrend, here.

It was confirmed earlier this year that Collins will reunite with his Genesis bandmates for a massive arena tour. The shows were set to place this year, but have been pushed back to 2021 due to the coronavirus.

“I think it’s a natural moment,” said Mike Rutherford of the band’s reunion. “Phil’s been out on tour for the last two-and-a-half years and his son Nick has been drumming, so it seemed like the natural moment to have a conversation about it. We’re all still good friends, we’re all above grass and here we are!”

Phil Collins, who is unable to play drums anymore, explained: “For me, it was something that was working and it was a problem we had to overcome, although I’ll be doing my best to play some bits on the tour. I’ve been working out what songs to play, but Tony and Mike came to the shows at the Albert Hall and both were taken with the way he understood what was needed.”
