Coronavirus Update: 15 Thousand Crore Emergency Package To States

To help states and UTs in preventing Coronavirus infection, the Central Government has approved a ‘COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package’ worth Rs 15,000 crore. Giving this information, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Luv Agarwal said that under this package, a separate hospital for Corona patients and supply of necessary medical resources including laboratory will be ensured.

The Health Ministry assured that an adequate number of resources, including personal protective equipment (PPE) of medical personnel, would be available and there was no need to be apprehensive about the availability of PPE. Agarwal dismissed the fears of the shortage saying that 20 companies in India are manufacturing PPE. Orders have been placed to buy PPE worth about Rs 1.7 crore. Besides, 49 thousand ventilators are also being purchased. He informed that there is enough stock available in the country of hydroxychloroquine, a medicine given to health workers and patients suspected of infection. He said that the Ministry of Railways has converted 3250 coaches into quarantine units. Railways will convert a total of 5 thousand coaches.

In the midst of the Corona crisis, the Center has been appreciated by some of Karnal’s entrepreneurs and NRI’s ‘Adopt a Family’ initiative. Health Ministry’s Joint Secretary Love Aggarwal said, under this campaign, 13 thousand needy families are being given assistance of Rs 64 lakh. Along with this, the district administration is also sending food to about 90 thousand needy people. The ministry also appreciated the Karnal administration for using ‘live tracker’ to monitor the health of quarantined people in their homes. Aggarwal said that the Karnal administration is also using the online delivery application ‘Need on Wheels’ to deliver essential goods to people’s homes.

Cases increased in Punjab to 130: On Thursday, 24 new cases of corona infection were reported in Punjab, which has increased the number of infected people to 130 in the state. Officials said 2 more people have died, bringing the death toll to 10. Corona cases have been reported in 17 districts of the state.

Recently, Justice Markandey Katju, the former judge of the Supreme Court made another controversial statement on Twitter on April 12. This time he tweeted about the global epidemic Coronavirus.

Justice Katju tweeted: “If there is a God, why does he not tell corona to buzz off ? Or does he like tormenting people ?”

The former judge of the Supreme Court is known to make controversial statements. A Twitter user says, “Kidding you sound !”

But he reverted and said, “I am not kidding. I am asking a serious question. In Dostoevsky’s great novel Brothers Karamazov it was asked by one of d brothers if there is a God y do children, who havent done any harm 2anyone, suffer ? Der r millions of children in d world hungry, shivering in cold, homeless.”

In another tweet, he said, “if there is a God, why does not eradicate corona.” Replying to one user, Justice Katju said, “I am not kidding. I am asking a serious question. Fate Of Lockdown To Be Decided Tomorrow 10AM: What To Expect ? Different Zones! Liquor Shops?

After much anticipation since the day he held a meeting with the chief ministers of state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will finally be addressing the nation at 10 am on April 14. The 21 Days lockdown is about to end on 14th April 2020 i.e tomorrow , It is the day when the lockdown extension will be made official by the Government.

In a tweet on Monday afternoon, the PMO Twitter handle announced that PM Modi will address the nation at 10 am on Tuesday.

After the meeting of PM with other states chief minister, the nation is expecting lockdown extension till 30th April. Now It’s the government which has to decide whether  to care about the  economy or to care about it’s people. It will be a difficult decision for the government as a result the news is coming that the govt might opt for a balanced approach and will divide the nation into different zones:-

Red

The districts with substantial numbers of positive cases would fall under the red zone. The coronavirus red zone will be totally sealed and no activity will take place.

Orange

The areas with limited number of cases in the past and with no surge in positive cases recently would be included under the orange zone. Only restricted activities such as limited public transport and farm product harvesting is expected to be allowed in coronavirus

Green

The districts with no coronavirus positive cases would fall under the green zone.

In the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, chief ministers reportedly rooted for limited movement of people in the extended lockdown period. They also asked for opening of liquor shops since these generate a substantial part of the state revenue.

Several states such as Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana and others have already extended the lockdown till April 30.

Soon after Saturday’s meeting, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was in news when he tweeted that the PM has agreed to extend the lockdown and expressed his gratitude.

According to the latest Official reports by the Government, The number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 9,000-mark while the death toll has crossed 300.

Delhi shook again by Earthquake 2.0- 2 DAYS IN A ROW!

The citizens of Delhi felt the tremors of a minor earthquake for a second day in a row on Monday, April 13 afternoon.

The National Centre for Seismology said the earthquake occurred at 1.26 pm at a depth of 5 kilometres.

On April 12 Delhi had felt the tremors of an earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale and these were felt in the neighbouring cities of Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

The people of Delhi seem to be panic stricken by such actions of nature and the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted hoping for everyone’s safety.
