Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case News: Mumbai Police Says ‘No Written Complaint Filed in February, Relative Sent WhatsApp Messages’

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh recently claimed that the Mumbai Police were warned about the threat to the late actor’s life in February 2020. In the self-made video, Sushant’s father was quoted by the news agency ANI, “On Feb 25, I informed Bandra Police that he’s in danger. He died on June 14 & I asked them to act against people named in my Feb 25 complaint. No action was taken even 40 days after his death. So I filed FIR in Patna.”

A few hours after that, the Mumbai Police counterclaimed KK Singh saying that no written complaint was filed by the family of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in February this year. The statement reads: “Regarding Sh Sushant Singh Rajput Accidental Death, the case has been registered to vide A.D.No 43/2020 u/s 174 CrPC on 14th June, 2020. The matter is being investigated by Bandra Police Station Mumbai.”

“Today, Sh KK Singh, Father of late Sh Sushant Singh Rajput has released a statement saying that the family had made a written complaint to Bandra Police on February 25. It must be clarified that no such written complaint has been addressed to Bandra Police Station on that date.”

Sushant’s family released WhatsApp chats sent to Mumbai Police informing them that the actor’s life was in danger. The DCP Operations Shahaji Umap concluded, “However, one Shri. OP Singh IPS, the brother in law of late Sushant Singh Rajput, had sent some whatsapp messages to the then DCP Zone 9 regarding this matter. The then DCP Zone 9 had called Sh OP Singh and requested him that a written complaint is mandatory for any enquiry or action. However, Mr Singh wanted this to be resolved informally, to which the then DCP Zone 9 clearly told him that it was not possible’.

Earlier, Sushant Singh Rajput’s father’s lawyer, Vikas Singh said in a TV interview that the family told Bandra Police about their concern that the actor was surrounded by people ‘they didn’t trust’. He said, “What has been most distressful for the family is that what was Mumbai Police doing all this while? The family has been saying as early as 24 February 2020, when Sushant was still alive that he was surrounded by people whom they don’t trust and there could be some danger to him. And then when he died, the family says that please look into the people who were controlling him. No investigation against Rhea was started, she was given a clean chit.”

Rappers Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have teased the forthcoming release of a joint single, ‘WAP’, for later this week.

Announced on both artists’ social media profiles today (August 4), ‘WAP’ is set for release this Friday (August 7).

‘WAP’ will mark Cardi B’s first original release for 2020 and a follow-up to Megan Thee Stallion’s March record, ‘Suga’, which featured the hit track ‘Savage’.

Late last month, Megan Thee Stallion updated fans on her situation after sustaining injuries from being shot in both of her feet. She said she had to undergo surgery, but the bullet missed any bones or tendons.

“I had to get surgery to get the shit taken out, to get the bullets taken out, and it was super scary,” she said in an Instagram Live session.

“I know my mama and my daddy and my granny had to be lookin’ out for me with that one, because where the bullets hit at, they missed everything, but the motherfuckers was in there.”

Megan also suggested in July that she and DJ Khaled have a collaborative release on the way.

“I mean fuck it, this is the Zane Lowe show right … I’ll be honest with you … you know, me and Megan, we got one. Ya, we cooked something up,” DJ Khaled said.

Thurston Moore, Real Estate, Surfer Blood, Mark Lanegan and a handful of other acts are celebrating the forthcoming vinyl release of dream-pop group Galaxie 500’s live album with a series of covers from the band’s back catalogue.

The live album, ‘Copenhagen’, was recorded back in the ’90s during their European tour and will arrive as part of the first instalment of this year’s Record Store Day on August 29.

A cover will be released every day until August 28, the day before the record is available to purchase. The first cover features Canadian group Kiwi Jr performing ‘Tugboat’, a track from Galaxie 500’s debut album, ‘Today’.

Watch the performance below:

The covers were originally meant to be presented as part of a Record Store Day concert organised by 20-20-20, the label run by Galaxie 500’s Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang. However, this was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“Earlier this year, a concert of covers of Galaxie 500 songs was planned for Record Store Day at Rough Trade Brooklyn, to coincide with the release of ‘Copenhagen’ on vinyl,” the website read.

“The event unfortunately didn’t happen due to the pandemic, but some of the performers are recording home videos which we’re presenting online.”
