GameStop Memorial Day Sale Is Live Now With Buy 2, Get 1 Free On Games (PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

Published

on

Memorial Day weekend is finally here, and with it, the holiday is bringing a slew of deals across tech and gaming. GameStop always gets in on the action with a major sale of its own, and its 2020 Memorial Day sale is live now through Monday, May 25 with deals on games, accessories, refurbished consoles, and more. Its biggest promotion is a buy two, get one free offer on new and pre-owned games for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. This type of sale is usually relegated to pre-owned titles only, so it’s pretty notable that new games, including some Switch titles, are included as well. Unfortunately (but not surprisingly), first-party Switch games and retro games aren’t included, and most of the games are full price.

As usual, when you add three games to your cart, the price of the cheapest one will be subtracted from your overall order. Because of this, it’s important to be strategic with which games you choose–buying two $60 games and one $15 game isn’t much of a savings. You should also be aware that many of the games in this B2G1 sale are listed at a price higher than what we’d normally see them on sale. Nier: Automata’s Game of the Yorha Edition, for instance, has regularly been available for $25, but it’s listed at $40 here. The Witcher 3’s Complete Edition is usually on sale for about $20 for PS4 and Xbox One, and $45 for the Switch version, yet those versions are selling for $40 and $60 here. And whatever you do, don’t buy Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for $60–it’s nearly always on sale for $15 to $20.

If you’re shopping for new games, there are still some solid options included; just be aware you could probably find some of these games individually for cheaper. Notably, the sale includes Final Fantasy VII Remake – Deluxe Edition, which has been hard to find physical copies of since launch. Another great option is Persona 5 Royal’s steelbook launch edition, on sale for $50. The B2G1 sale also includes the Resident Evil 3 remake, Control, The Outer Worlds, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, so you’ve got some good games to choose from.

Last but certainly not least, the long-anticipated Last of Us Part 2 is finally launching soon.

Valorant — June 2

The beta is over by the time you’re reading this, but Valorant will be free-to-play for everyone soon. The team shooter pits attackers and defenders each other in a series of rounds, and each characters’ unique abilities can totally turn the tide of battle. It’s also important to note that ranks will reset for the full launch, so any beta progress you might have won’t carry over.

Fortnite’s Season 3 Icon Leaks, Suggests Underwater Theme

Published

By

Over the past few weeks, a number of posts from prominent Fortnite leakers have suggested that the upcoming Chapter 2 Season 3 will have players dive underwater to battle it out. Now, the most compelling evidence yet has emerged. A Twitter user noticed that the PlayStation Store mistakenly changed Fortnite’s icon on the storefront ahead of time, and it depicts the familiar battle bus slipping beneath the sea.

While the start date for Fortnite’s Season 3 could still change, the end date of Season 2 has become a moving target in recent days. At first, Epic Games said that the season would conclude on April 30, before moving it to June 4, and most recently June 11. As of now, Season 3 is set to start immediately after the end of Season 2, but massive social unrest in the US and elsewhere could delay it, as it has many other events in the world of gaming.

Based on hints and leaks, it appears that a large event called Doomsday will mark the end of Fortnite’s Season 2. That is scheduled for this Saturday, June 6. Some fans have speculated that this event could rip a watery hole in the map, which would reshape the map similar to other events in the game’s past. If you’re looking for the Spy Bases to open the locked chests, or eliminating henchmen for the Storm the Agency challenges, we’ve got those covered.

Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up to show off more of World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, Shadowlands. The developer has confirmed it is hosting a livestream reveal event on June 9 where executive producer John Hight and game director Ion Hazzikostas will provide a new look at the expansion. Here’s when the Shadowlands reveal event starts and where you can watch it. It will be one of the first major reveals on the game’s content and what fans can expect.

World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands Reveal Event Start Time

The World of Warcraft: Shadowlands reveal event stream begins on June 9 at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET, and you can watch it on the World of Warcraft Twitch and YouTube channels. GameSpot will also carry the stream as part of our Play For All campaign. Hight and Hazzikostas will give the presentation from their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shadowlands is the eighth expansion for WoW, and it is scheduled for release in 2020. As its name suggests, the expansion takes players to the world of the dead. Unlike all the previous expansions, Shadowlands actually reduces the level cap to 60, down from 120, as part of a unique twist. Unlike some other MMOs, World of Warcraft never made the jump to consoles. However, the game is getting controller support with the Shadowlands expansion.
