It’s the end of another week and we want you to start the weekend right, so we’ve got a bunch of cool, funny, and downright heartwarming stories from around the video game world for you. Good News Gaming is all about uplifting the spirit and putting a little spring in your step, so give the episode a watch and hopefully it’ll leave with a warm and fuzzy feeling.
The breakout star of this week’s selection of stories is a streamer that goes by brohx_. He usually spends his time broadcasting himself doing intricate wood carvings, but the lad is also a big fan of video games. He loves to play World of Warcraft and, due to his modest laptop, usually sticks to the classic version, which is less demanding on hardware. However, brohx_ stepped into the spotlight when a video of him telling people not to subscribe to him–and even trying to figure out whether he can return subs–was broken out and circulated. It’s so wholesome and his desire to ensure people take advantage of the free entertainment he provides was incredibly sweet.
The best part of the story is another Twitch streamer dedicated one of their broadcast to raising money that would be used to get brohx_ a PC to play more games. Of course, the humble lad protested, but the community was too set on showing him some love. It’s a wonderful story. Also, he likes My Hero Academia–what a lovely person.
PUBG PC free weekend with 50 percent discount on Steam has begun
The developers of battle royale game PUBG recently announced that it will be free for PC users on Steam for a weekend. The free weekend of PUBG is now live on PC platform Steam which means that users download and play it for free. The free weekend takes place from June 4 to June 8. This was announced on the social media accounts of PUBG. Besides this, users that even want to buy the game permanently will get 50 percent off which means it is available for Rs 499.
The most recent update of PUBG is the first one to arrive after the Vikendi map reword hit with update 7.2. This is massive update with a lot of changes in it, and the primary ones include Ranked Mode, addition of bots to the game, and weapon and armor balances.
PUBG update 7.2: Details
A new ‘Ranked’ sub navigation option has been added to the ‘Play’ section of the primary navigation menu. Matches will feature a maximum of 64 players and there will be no bots. Players need to reach a minimal Survival Mastery level of 20 before they qualify for ranked. Depending on their platform and region, players may need to verify their account using SMS before they qualify for Ranked mode.
Ranked mode games will be randomly played on Erangel, Miramar, or Sanhok. Ranked mode will have an overall increase in item loot spawns. There are a total of 6 tiers in the Ranked system (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master) with 5 Divisions (V – I) within each tier. A player’s current rank is determined by their Rank Points (RP) in a given queue. After a player dies, they will receive an adjustment to their RP based on their performance. The metrics that determine performance are Kills, Assists, and Personal placement.
At the end of the season, players will receive Ranked rewards based on their Highest Ranked tier that season. All players will receive a nameplate and emblem recognizing their Tier. The Leaderboards have also returned and have been updated to work with with Ranked mode.
Bots are finally here on the PC version of the game with PUBG update 7.2. Like in the console version, devs write that with a certain player base has become rather skilled. Hence matching these people with lower skilled players is unfair. To balance this out bots are being added to the game. They have shared the mechanics of how bots will work in terms of movement and how they will spawn. The bots will have a the skills to use bullet drop mechanics and even understand proper aiming at players. Hence they can be dodged like you are dodging normal players. They will also have loot and will be killed a lot, hence they will not carry a lot of loot each.
Weapon and Armor Balance
This is a major change in the game and Assault Rifles are being targeted in this patch. “The M416 has long been the most powerful AR and one of the top guns in the game as a whole, so we’ve adjusted it and buffed some of the other ARs to give players alternative options.” Write the devs. With this M416, M16A4 and SCAR-L now have increased reload times.
M16A4, and MK47 Mutant now have decreased recoil when firing in quick succession in semi-auto and bursts mode and have tracers. Beryl M762 has Increased muzzle velocity from 680 m/s to 740 m/s and decreased recoil. Shotguns now have increased limb multiplier from 0.9 to 1.05 and head multiplier from 1.25 to 1.5. They also have increased hip-fire accuracy and decreased accuracy penalty during movement and damage drop over distance for all shotguns.
With this new update, ‘destroyed’ vests will no longer disappear, and neither will your inventory space. In addition, vests will continue to provide 20% protection and slight aim punch reduction once destroyed. The base protection level of the destroyed vest is the same no matter the type of vest you’re wearing. This should mean more competitive engagements, even if the situation doesn’t allow for the looting of a new vest.
Gas Can improvements
The Gas Can can now be equipped in a melee weapon slot. Players can then press “attack” to pour gas on the ground. It takes around 7 seconds to empty the can. Spilled fuel can be set on fire with gun shots, molotovs, and grenade explosions. Fire deals the same damage as a molotov, but burns longer. Spilled fuel evaporates in about 3.5 minutes. You can also throw the Gas Can the same way as melee weapons (aim, then press attack), which causes it to release some fuel upon landing, making it easier to ignite and explode.
Besides these there are other changes and new skins which are being added, these can be found here.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare And Warzone Add “Black Lives Matter” Splash Screen
Players who boot up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone now will be prompted to download an update, and it’s added a new splash screen to the game announcing support for Black Lives Matter. The screen, reported on by The Verge, contains a message for the Call of Duty player community.
“Our community is hurting,” the screen reads. “The systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.”
The screen will appear for all players upon booting the game, and The Verge reports that it is also appearing on loading screens and when you switch between different modes.
While Call of Duty has long been notorious for having many toxic players, this is one of several efforts being taken or promised right now to address racism among the player base. Season 4 has been delayed following the murder of George Floyd, and Infinity Ward has promised to combat in-game racism with enhanced counter-measures.
Infinity Ward is one of several developers and publishers that has addressed current world events and pledged support for Black Lives Matter.

Call of Duty adds screen that says Black Lives Matter
Infinity Ward just released an update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that adds a splash screen message in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Players are being told they need to update their client upon finishing multiplayer games, and once they do, the message appears on screen.
“Our community is hurting,” the statement reads. “The systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.”
The Verge has confirmed that the message subsequently appears every time you launch Modern Warfare on a PS4. It also appears on loading screens and when switching to a separate mode like Warzone.
Several video game companies have issued statements of support for black communities this week following protests against police brutality in the US and the killing of George Floyd. Placing the message in front of everyone playing a hugely popular first-person shooter, however, could help it reach a wider group of people.
