In this time of crisis, everybody is fixated on looking for solutions and escape from the COVID-19 pandemic, but the poor medical facilities provided to people are what actually kill them and their spirits.
This shocking scenario was highlighted when a woman had to carry her child to the hospital in Bihar. The child of 3 years died in the arms of his mother as there was no ambulance available to them, so the mother had to carry him in her hands. The doctors kept referring them from one place to another. It was not some deadly virus that killed the child, but pneumonia, something that could have been helped had he gotten proper medical aid.
Another such case was seen in Pilibheet, Uttar Pradesh where a woman died outside a hospital, unattended by the doctors. The reason for her death seems to be high fever and the doctors said that she might have been suffering from coronavirus which is why they never admitted her inside.
Such cases shake the ground below us and it is imperative that we realise the worth of human lives, rich or poor and how important it is that along with better equipments and facilities, a better conscience is also a factor in fighting this disease and facing its repercussions.
