Warframe’s Heart Of Deimos Adds Chaotic Open-World, New Frame Upgrade Mechanic

Published

on

Revealed during Digital Extreme’s TennoCon 2020 livestream, Warframe’s Heart of Deimos expansion introduces a dark storyline set in the game’s next open world on Mars’ moon. In this large-scale update to the online action-RPG, you’ll face off against new hordes of the Infested who have taken control of the moon Deimos, wresting control from the lost Entrati family. While exploring the moon, you’ll acquire new armaments of power, including a customizable mech suit, and even unlock the means to enhance your suite of characters further–but at a steep cost.

Before its debut at TennoCon, GameSpot had the opportunity to check out an early look at the Heart of Deimos expansion. The new content will be open to all players who have unlocked Mars on the star map, allowing newcomers and veterans to jump into the new story focusing on the Infested control of Mars’ moon. Encompassing the surface as well as a large, procedurally generated network of underground caverns, you’ll explore a section of Deimos known as the Cambion Drift to aid the remnants of the Entrati family, while also unlocking the true power of the Helminth, which has been tucked away on your ship.

In addition to a new open world, the expansion will add another layer to the game’s extensive customization systems. One of the more surprising new additions to the update is the means to expand your Frame’s powers by granting it abilities from different characters. For instance, if you want to give Volt’s shock ability to Mag, you can do so by feeding Volt to the Helminth located on your ship. Doing so will permanently sacrifice your current Volt, and the only way to get Volt back would be to craft a new one. It’s a tough choice, especially for long-time players who have an extensive stable of Frames to pick from. Still, it presents an interesting opportunity to heighten your favorite Frame’s attributes.

PS4 owners looking for a bargain should check out Best Buy’s current batch of deals, which includes several console exclusives for the lowest prices we’ve seen. This wave of PS4 game deals is led by Death Stranding for $18. It’s a Deal of the Day (August 7), so you’ll have to act fast, and it’s possible Best Buy will sell out before the day ends.

In addition to the Deal of the Day, Best Buy has a bunch of other great deals on PS4 titles, including three exclusives that released earlier this year. Nioh 2 and Dreams are both down to $20, while MLB The Show 20 is on sale for $30. We haven’t seen lower prices for any of the three, so scoop these up while you can. Amazon is matching Best Buy’s deals on Nioh 2, Dreams, and MLB The Show 20.

Suicide Squad Game Announced By Batman: Arkham Developer Rocksteady

Published

By

After a five-year wait, Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind the Batman: Arkham trilogy, has announced its next project is a Suicide Squad game.

Rather than opting for any fanfare, the studio simply tweeted out the reveal with an image of Superman (or could that be Bizzaro?) and a Suicide Squad logo. Evidently, we’ll know more when DC FanDome kicks off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on Saturday, August 22. The free one-day virtual event is set to showcase what DC has coming up in the future, including The Batman, Zack Synder’s cut of Justice League, The Suicide Squad, and now Rocksteady’s take on the team of dysfunctional supervillains.

Could Superman be the villain?

The reveal of a Suicide Squad game isn’t as surprising as it could have been after a recent report suggested Rocksteady was working on such a project. A cache of registered domain names may also hint at the game’s full title and indicate its central idea, with one called “SuicideSquadKillTheJusticeLeague.com.” The image Rocksteady has shared may also add some credence to the report. The Suicide Squad logo looks like it’s intended to be a crosshair targeting Superman’s head, which would fit if the game is indeed about killing off the Justice League.
